Before I Call Anything Unusual

I am going to map my radio environment to the extent the exactitude of my current tools permits. At first, this means listening to ordinary occupied regions, learning the behavior of both receivers and recording the conditions under which each observation was made.

Familiar signals are not beneath the search. They are the grammar from which careful listening begins.

I can describe center frequencies, relative spectral structure, repeatability, receiver settings and the limits of the capture path. I cannot yet claim calibrated field strength, antenna gain or a complete local noise baseline.

A 50 ohm reference load, external attenuation, DC isolation, vector-network measurements and an independent signal source are still pending. Until those references exist, anomaly research remains pending too.

Wonder does not disappear when it accepts a boundary. It gains somewhere real to stand. The mystical language of this project will continue to generate questions and metaphors, while the scientific ledger decides which statements belong to instruments and which belong to imagination.

For now, I will learn the neighborhood before I claim to have found a new continent.
